Today’s comic strip is in memory of David McDougall, founder of the Nemaline Myopathy Support Group. He was a dear friend and hero. NM is something I have lived all of my life. Click here to learn more about NM and what David did.

  • George the sheltie puppy is talking to his human dad, Gord, who is sitting in a wheelchair as asks, "Hey, ever fantasize about Being a superhero? You know, saving the world, stopping crime, and all that?" Gord replies in curiosity, "Yeah, what would that be like? the next panel shows an alternate reality.
  • the panel shows a fictitious city under attack by an alien spaceship, from which you can hear maniacal laughter. The narrative caption reads: 'The good people of New Border City cower in their homes, terrified of the Dreadful Zaraxis, who has taken over. Will the people lose all hope? DOG LAUGHS: The Learning Curve

Imagine this: you’ve been observing for weeks now. You’ve seen your humans do it, and most importantly, you’ve been studying the old dog. So with all of this exposure to higher education, why can’t you get it right? Don’t worry, practice makes perfect, and we have plenty of cleaning supplies.

Shelties, shepherding is in their blood. Bred in Scotland for this very purpose, it’s no wonder they have a strong urge to do it. In fact, they’ll herd just about anything. Shelties are intelligent and agile dogs, and they are very good at following commands. They are also very protective of their flock. So when Frodo, a city sheltie, visited a farm for the first time, you would think he would know what to do. Well…

Imagine isto: É meio-dia, estamos com pressa e queremos que nosso novo filhote faça cocô no gramado. Já passamos por isso antes. Algumas coisas estão fora do nosso controle. Podemos querer que ele faça o que precisa ser feito, mas ele quer comer a grama, mastigar um graveto, brincar com a formiga que passa pelo seu focinho ou talvez apenas falar sobre trevos. Mas se formos pacientes o suficiente, talvez possamos aprender alguma coisa.

DOG LAUGHS – Forever Angelic Reunion Meadows (ft. Frodo The Sheltie)

Picture this: It’s a lovely day, and you feel the grass between your toes. Suddenly, True Love calls out to you. How do you respond? The only way you can: you run full throttle towards it. And that’s exactly what our sheltie, Frodo, did on July 16th, 2022.

  • This is "Dog Laughs," a comic strip by Gordon Bagshaw. Today’s comic strip features Frodo The Sheltie Title: “Forever Angelic Reunion Meadows” Number of panels: 5 plus and extra special image. Picture this: It's a lovely day, and you feel the grass between your toes. Suddenly, True Love calls out to you. How do you respond? The only way you can: you run full throttle towards it. And that's exactly what our sheltie, Frodo, did on July 16th, 2022.
  • Panel 1 of 5: Frodo the Sheltie is basking in the warm sunlight as the gentle breeze rustles through the grass. Suddenly, a rainbow arcs across the sky and lowers itself in front of him. From the rainbow, the Great Shepherd calls out in a soft voice, "Frodo, come here, my boy." Frodo looks up, recognizing the voice of his beloved master. "Shep!" he exclaims, wagging his tail in excitement.
  • Panel 2 of 5: Frodo the Sheltie leaps up with excitement and runs towards Shep, his paws now landing on a vibrant rainbow bridge that fills him with joy. The colors of the rainbow intensify with every step he takes, filling the surroundings with a warm and inviting glow. Frodo can't help but let out a joyful, "Woohoo!" as he runs towards Shep, eager to reach his beloved master.
  • Panel 3 of 5: Frodo sits down in front of Shep on the rainbow bridge. Shep affectionately pets the sheltie's mane and asks, "My boy, do you believe in FARM?” Frodo relaxes in the warm embrace and replies, "You betcha." The rainbow colors continue to swirl around them, creating a peaceful and magical atmosphere. Shep looks deeply into Frodo's eyes, as if imparting some ancient wisdom to his furry companion.
  • Panel 4 of 5: Shep and Frodo start their journey along the rainbow bridge as Shep imparts some profound wisdom to his little companion. "Wendy and countless friends you've made over the years are waiting for you," says Shep, his voice filled with love and understanding. Frodo looks up at Shep with a mixture of curiosity and awe, taking in every word of his master's guidance. The vibrant hues of the rainbow continue to surround them, as if guiding them towards their destination.
  • Panel 5 of 5: As Shep and Frodo walk along the rainbow bridge, the colors become more vibrant, lifting them higher and higher into the heavens. Shep continues to speak about FARM and all its majesty, "There are cats, horses, and yes, even vacuums..." Frodo interrupts him in surprise, "Vacuums?" Shep laughs and smiles, "Oh man, I wish I had a camera. The look on your face is priceless." Frodo starts to chuckle as well, realizing Shep is just teasing him. "Yeah, yeah, you're quite the comedian, Shep. Don't quit your day job, buddy," says Frodo, playfully nudging Shep with his nose. The two continue to walk along the rainbow bridge, basking in the beauty of their surroundings and the joy of their companionship.

DOG LAUGHS – A Cachorra Velha

Imagina só: você está cansado depois de um longo dia sem fazer nada, então o que você mais quer? Você quer fazer ainda mais de nada, é claro. Bem, isso não vai ser tão fácil para a velha Amarela na tirinha de hoje.

  • Esta é "Dog Laughs", uma tirinha de Gordon Bagshaw. Título: "A Velha Cachorra". Número de painels: 3. As três imagens seguintes correspondem a cada painel da tirinha. Cenário: Amarela, a velha cachorra da família, está tirando uma soneca no sofá, mas o mundo desta Rhodesian Ridgeback está prestes a mudar de uma grande forma por um pequeno companheiro. Imagina só: você está cansado depois de um longo dia sem fazer nada, então o que você mais quer? Você quer fazer ainda mais de nada, é claro. Bem, isso não vai ser tão fácil para a velha Amarela na tirinha de hoje.
  • Painel 1 de 3: Amarela, a velha cachorra da família, está roncando feito um porco no sofá grande quando a mamãe entra com uma surpresa: o novo filhote de Sheltie da família, George, que está sentado em cima da velha cachorra. A mamãe diz: "Amarela, acorde, querida. Eu quero que você conheça o George."
  • Painel 2 de 3: George, o filhote de sheltie, está correndo para lá e para cá como um louco, cheio de pique e curiosidade. Amarela está chocada com a exibição de pura energia. George está fazendo todas as perguntas possíveis: "O que é isso? O que é aquilo? O que tem lá?" "Ah, eu vou destruir isso mais tarde", e por aí vai.
